The app and the website

Learn without creating a MemoCap account. Your progress is saved on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud storage. No advertising or third-party trackers.

Data saved in MemoCap

Completed chapters and steps, scores, answers and sessions in progress are saved on your device so you can continue learning. A difficulty counter per country, capped at five, and the countries to review are also saved. A minimal technical history of checked answers prevents double counting when syncing devices. The app also saves your preferences and which welcome or help screens you have seen.

Local saving stays active when you play offline or turn off iCloud sync. This data is not sent to a MemoCap server.

iCloud sync: your choice

The “iCloud sync” option in Settings > Backup is on by default. You can turn it off at any time and keep using MemoCap with local saving.

When enabled, the app saves your progress, sessions, training preferences, difficulty tracking and Discovery help status in a private iCloud database managed by Apple. This data lets you continue on another device or after reinstalling. Music, sound, haptic and animation settings remain specific to each device. MemoCap sync does not upload illustrations or audio files.

Recovery requires the same iCloud account, permission to use the service, an Internet connection and available storage. Sync can be delayed: only changes already uploaded can be recovered. Its status appears in MemoCap’s settings. The app does not ask for your Apple email address or password.

Apple manages iCloud under its own privacy rules, described in the link below.

If you change iCloud accounts

The app uses a technical identifier provided by iCloud to distinguish accounts and keep their progress separate. This identifier is not used for advertising or tracking.

When you switch accounts, MemoCap keeps a separate local copy to recover any offline changes when you return to the previous account. These copies are not uploaded to another iCloud account. They remain on this device and are removed when you delete the app.

No advertising or tracking

MemoCap includes no third-party advertising or usage analytics service. The app does not request access to your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone. Sounds and music play from files included in the app.

Purchases are handled by Apple

Apple handles payment and restoration of the full version. The app uses product and transaction information supplied by Apple to display the price and verify your access. MemoCap does not receive your payment card details.

App Store services, statistics and diagnostics that Apple may provide to developers are governed by Apple’s privacy rules and your sharing settings.

Turning off, resetting or deleting

Turning off sync stops MemoCap’s iCloud exchanges on this device. Local progress and any existing iCloud copy are kept.

“Reset learning progress” clears learning results and sessions currently in use in MemoCap, while keeping your preferences and purchase. This reset reaches other devices on the same account when they sync. If iCloud is disabled, it will be sent after you enable it again. A technical reset marker is kept to prevent old results from returning.

Deleting the app, rather than offloading it, removes its local data from this device, but does not delete your purchase or the iCloud copy. To delete MemoCap’s iCloud data, use iCloud storage management in Apple settings. When the app detects that a copy it previously synced has disappeared, it asks for confirmation before recreating it.

Your device backups

MemoCap sync is separate from the general backup of your iPhone or iPad. Depending on your Apple settings, app data may also be included in an iCloud device backup or a computer backup. You manage those copies using Apple’s tools.

Restoring an older backup may restore the data it contains. If MemoCap’s iCloud sync contains a more recent reset, that reset will apply when the app receives it.

The memocap.net website

This website uses no advertising, audience analytics, remote fonts or marketing trackers. Images, scripts and styles are served from our OVHcloud hosting.

On your first visit to the website root, the language preference sent by your browser is used to select French or English. A manual choice is stored in the memocap_language cookie for up to one year. The /fr/ and /en/ addresses always open the specified language. You can change the language at any time or remove this cookie in your browser.

If you choose to reduce motion on the website, this setting is saved in this tab’s session storage. It is not sent to the server. The website also follows your device’s reduced-motion preference.

The support page uses a session cookie required to secure the form. It expires when the browser closes; server-side session information becomes unusable after two hours of inactivity. No message content or email address is stored in this cookie.

As with any website access, OVHcloud processes technical connection data, including the IP address, time, requested page and browser information, to provide and secure the service. Technical logs may be kept according to the host’s settings and obligations. We do not use them to build advertising profiles.

If you contact us

The form asks for your reply email address, a topic and your message. The information you choose to send is used only to handle and follow up on your request. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in providing support. You do not need to contact us to use MemoCap. Avoid sensitive information and never send Apple passwords or payment card details.

The form is hosted by OVHcloud. Messages are passed to our support mailbox through the hosting email service; email providers involved in delivery and storage process the necessary data. We do not sell this information or use it for marketing.

Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle and follow up on your request, or to meet an applicable legal obligation. The form does not create a message database on the website. To limit abuse, a counter associated with a cryptographic hash of the IP address covers the last 24 hours, without the message or email address. Expired entries are removed on the next form submission. Technical security processing is based on our legitimate interest in protecting the service.

External links

Links to Apple, geographic sources and other websites open only when you choose them. Those services apply their own privacy rules and may receive connection data, including your IP address.

Your questions and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction or deletion of your data, restrict or object to processing, or request data portability where that right applies. Use our support form and choose “Privacy and data”.
